Eco Friendly and Carbon Neutral Service
Running my business in an ethical way is very important to me. As such I have made some simple changes to the way I run my business. I now provide a carbon neutral and eco friendly service....
- I work from my office at home. This has taken away the need for having, and running a second car and the subsequent emissions caused by travelling.
- The electricity for my home is provided by an eco electricity company who pump a unit of electricity (created by wind power), into the national grid for every unit of electricity I use.
- My home is heated by a high efficiency gas boiler endorsed and recommended by the Energy Saving Trust.
- To offset the gas used for heating my home/office and also to safeguard the area itself, I sponsor (for permanent protection) three acres of rainforest in Costa Rica.
- The windows of my home are double glazed, the walls are insulated, and the loft is doubly insulated.
- I use low energy light bulbs in my office, and throughout the house.
- I use several low energy appliances in my office, including a low energy PC and LCD monitor, plus a low energy laser printer. Also whenever something is not in use, it is switched off!
- Where possible I use Fair Trade and recycled (my desk and filing cabinet are recycled/second hand) products.
- All packaging/waste - plastic, cardboard and paper etc (apart from sensitive paperwork which is shredded) is recycled.
